The new academic, theoretical and practical contributions of the dissertation are as follows:

Theoretically, based on its research of theory and practice, the dissertation has enhanced and added to the concepts of socialization, forest protection and development, and community forestry. It also has provided the new concepts of socialization of forest protection and development, clearly defined the basic principles and contents of socialization of forest protection and development, state management of the same field, and the stakeholders’ rights and duties. Based on its review of models of participatory forest management available in certain countries in the world, the dissertation has provided lessons of experience for Vietnam.

Practically,based on its analysis and evaluation of the achievements and limitations, its identification of the basic causes of those achievements and limitations during the socialization of forest protection and development and state management in the field in the Central Highlands, its analysis of the viewpoints and directions of forestry socialization in Vietnam and in the Central Highlands, as well as issues facing state management in the field in the new context, the dissertation has provided sets of solutions in order to enhance state management of socialization of forest protection and development in the Central Highlands, some models of forest protection and development, and plans for rearrangement and reform of activities of forestry companies in the Central Highlands.

The recommendations by the dissertation form a basis for perfecting the legal system, state policies and mechanisms on socialization of forest protection and development, towards sustainable and effective forest protection and development. The dissertation is a reference for research and lecturing at training and retraining institutions, and authorities of public management, forestry and law study.
