Opening Ceremony of Course 2 of the "Global Young Business Manager" Program at the Academy of Public Administration and Governance

The opening ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Academy of Public Administration and Governance. Under Decision No. 3584-QD/HVHCQTC dated September 10, 2026, issued by the President of the Academy, Course 2 will run from September 14, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Bui Phuong Dinh, Vice President of the Academy; Mr. Seo Jungwoo, Administrative and Safety Attaché at the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Kim Jung In, Director of the GYBM Program; representatives from the Daewoo Global Management Institute; experts, lecturers, and enterprise representatives from South Korea and Vietnam; alongside GYBM trainees from Course 1 and Course 2.

Delivering the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, President of the Academy of Public Administration and Governance, warmly welcomed the Course 2 trainees. He also expressed sincere thanks to the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam, the Daewoo Global Management Institute, as well as partner agencies, organizations, enterprises, experts, and lecturers for their continued partnership.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien noted that the presence of Course 1 trainees at the opening ceremony carried special significance. After three months of studying, interacting with experts and businesses, and gaining practical experience in Vietnam, the insights shared by Course 1 would help new trainees better understand the cultural differences to adapt to, the necessary preparations, and how to step-by-step build a solid foundation for studying and working in Vietnam.

The Academy President emphasized that GYBM focuses on developing adaptability, collaboration, self-leadership, and value creation. In an international environment, knowledge forms the foundation, but adaptability, respect for differences, relationship-building, and translating knowledge into tangible results are the decisive factors. Particularly within the expanding Vietnam–South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, both nations require young individuals capable of bridging linguistic, cultural, and operational gaps to help transform cooperative potential into concrete values.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, GYBM also creates a shared learning space between Vietnam and South Korea, where trainees, lecturers, experts, and enterprises can exchange experience. Through the program, the Academy gains opportunities to innovate its international training methods; faculty and students enhance exchanges with foreign partners; and businesses engage more deeply in training and human resource development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Kim Jung In, Director of the GYBM Program, congratulated the Course 2 trainees on starting their new journey at the Academy. He also thanked the leadership, faculty, and staff of the Academy for preparing a quality learning environment and supporting trainees during their time in Vietnam.

Mr. Kim Jung In shared that GYBM was established to carry forward the spirit of global management and the vision of nurturing young talent of the late Daewoo Group Chairman Kim Woo-choong. The program aims to inspire young South Koreans to step out into the world, challenge themselves, grow alongside host communities, and become global business managers. To date, the program has trained over 1,600 participants, many of whom are currently working in Vietnam and other countries.

According to the GYBM Program Director, what matters most is not how trainees begin their journey, but who they become after completing the program. Learning a new language, adapting to a new environment, practicing self-management, building trust with the local community, and collaborating with diverse people represent vital parts of preparing for an international career.

In the context of technology and AI rapidly transforming the world of work, Mr. Kim Jung In emphasized that interpersonal trust, courage in the face of challenges, self-learning, and personal growth remain key competitive advantages. He expressed his hope that Course 2 trainees will support one another and successfully complete their study journey in Vietnam.

Delivering a welcome address, Mr. Seo Jungwoo, Administrative and Safety Attaché at the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam, expressed his delight at the continued implementation of GYBM Course 2 in Vietnam by both academies. He highly valued the significance of youth exchange and training programs amid the deepening Vietnam–South Korea relations.

Mr. Seo Jungwoo extended his best wishes to the Course 2 trainees, hoping that during their stay in Vietnam, they would not only acquire professional knowledge and skills but also proactively explore local culture, people, and work environments, foster exchanges with Vietnamese youth, and build valuable relationships for their future career paths.

The Embassy representative also voiced expectations that the program would continue contributing to human resource development for international work environments while building stronger connections among the youth, educational institutions, and business communities of both nations.

Representing Course 1 trainees, Kang Moon Mo, Chairman of the GYBM Course 21 Student Council, welcomed the new trainees and shared reflections from his own first three months in Vietnam.

Kang Moon Mo shared that upon arriving in Vietnam, Course 1 trainees also felt excitement, high expectations, and apprehension in an unfamiliar environment. Learning a new language, adapting to a different culture, living far from home, and preparing for future careers presented real challenges, but these very experiences created the true value of GYBM.

According to the Course 1 representative, GYBM is not merely a training program, but an environment where trainees challenge themselves, learn to collaborate with others, and prepare for life and work in a global setting. Trusting relationships and mutual support are among the most valuable assets participants take away from the program.

A representative of the GYBM Course 2 trainees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study at the Academy of Public Administration and Governance, identifying the upcoming six months as a challenging journey to cultivate a pioneering spirit and prepare to become global business managers.

The Course 2 representative affirmed that trainees would actively overcome language and living barriers, study diligently, support each other, and strive to become bridging figures promoting Vietnam–South Korea friendship, while continuing the spirit of challenging oneself and taking action inspired by the late Chairman Kim Woo-choong.

Course 2 of the GYBM Program will run through March 31, 2027. During their studies at the Academy, trainees will explore Vietnam's country, people, culture, and business environment, while building competencies in intercultural communication, adaptability, collaboration, problem-solving, and essential professional skills for an international setting.

The opening ceremony of Course 2 reaffirmed the effective training collaboration between the Academy of Public Administration and Governance and the Daewoo Global Management Institute. It also expands academic, cultural, and professional exchange spaces between Vietnam and South Korea, contributing to preparing an adaptable young workforce capable of working in a global environment.
