Enhancing International Cooperation, Nurturing a New Generation of Global Young Leaders between Vietnam and South Korea

On the morning of June 15, 2026, in Hanoi, the Academy of Public Administration and Governance, in collaboration with the Daewoo Global Management Academy (South Korea), organized the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 "Global Young Business Managers" (GYBM) Program. The program was organized to equip trainees with knowledge about Vietnam, its working and business environment, while developing necessary competencies to learn, adapt, and work effectively in an international context.

The view of the Opening Ceremony

Attending the Opening Ceremony, on the side of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh, Director General of the Department of Science Management, and Dr. Dao Thi Nguyet Hang, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation.

On the side of international experts and guests, the event welcomed Mr. Kim Jung In, Director of the GYBM Program; Dr. Ko Tae Yeon, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam (former General Director of LG, Co-Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF)); Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huong, General Director of EY Vietnam Consultancy Joint Stock Company, Chairperson of the International Association of Financial Executives Institutes (IAFEI) for the Asian Region; Mr. Chae Mukho, Director of Noble Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Mr. Seong Kang Min, Deputy Director of the GYBM Program; Mr. Lee Ho Young, Director of KS Finance Company; and Mr. Lee Won Seok, GYBM Program Manager in South Korea.

Representing the Academy of Public Administration and Governance were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, President of the Academy, alongside leaders of subordinate and affiliated units, officials, lecturers of the Academy, and the 29 South Korean trainees participating in the program.

Ms. Pham Thi Quynh Hoa, Acting Director of the Department of Scientific Management and International Cooperation, announced the Decision to organize the "2026 Global Young Business Managers Program" issued by the President of the Academy of Public Administration and Governance.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, President of the Academy of Public Administration and Governance, emphasized the significance of the program against the backdrop of the robustly developing Vietnam - South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. According to the Academy's President, alongside achievements in economy, trade, and investment, the connection between the younger generations of the two countries serves as a vital foundation for cultivating sustainable cooperative relations in the future.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien asserted that the GYBM program is not merely a training course but also an investment in young human resources, contributing to forming new bridges between Vietnam and South Korea. This is simultaneously a meaningful step in the internationalization strategy of the Academy of Public Administration and Governance, aiming toward building a multicultural learning environment where learners share knowledge, experiences, and development aspirations.

Introducing the core contents of the program, the Academy's President stated that GYBM is designed with a capability-development focus, centering on the ability to adapt, collaborate in multicultural environments, lead oneself, and create value in the context of digital transformation. In addition to modules on governance, leadership, digital skills, and artificial intelligence, trainees will participate in various practical experiential activities, corporate networking, and engagement with Vietnamese culture. He expressed his expectation that the trainees will become positive factors contributing to promoting cooperation, exchange, and development between the two nations in the coming time.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 21st class of the GYBM Program in 2026, Mr. Kim Jung In, Director of the GYBM Program, expressed his delight that the course was officially launched at the Academy of Public Administration and Governance (APAG), marking a new developmental step in the training cooperation between the parties.

Mr. Kim Jung In sincerely thanked the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Academy of Public Administration and Governance, as well as the faculty and staff for their care, support, and meticulous preparation for the training course. Affirming that GYBM is not just an overseas employment support program, Mr. Kim Jung In emphasized that it is a global talent cultivation model built on the educational philosophy of the late Chairman Kim Woo-choong, aiming to nurture a young generation of leaders capable of international integration.

After 15 years of implementation, the program has trained over 1,500 trainees, many of whom currently hold core roles at enterprises in Vietnam and various Southeast Asian countries. In a world undergoing profound transformations driven by globalization, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence, the program expects to equip trainees not only with specialized knowledge but also with the capacity to adapt, collaborate multiculturally, build trust, and develop international relations.

Mr. Kim Jung In wished that the trainees would uphold a proactive spirit in learning, constantly experience, and train themselves to become global citizens, contributing to the development of businesses, communities, and the cooperative relationship between South Korea and Vietnam, as well as other countries in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ko Tae Yeon, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam, highlighted the strong development of Vietnam - South Korea cooperative relations from initial corporate connections to an extensive cooperation network involving thousands of businesses and investors from both countries.

Expressing his joy that 29 GYBM trainees chose Vietnam to study and experience, Dr. Ko Tae Yeon affirmed that the program not only creates career opportunities but also helps young people discover their capabilities, orient their future, and expand personal development opportunities. He encouraged trainees to constantly learn, build relationships, and actively explore Vietnamese culture and language, considering this an important foundation for integration and success. Concurrently, he expected that the trainees would become bridges contributing to cultivating friendship, enhancing cooperation, and developing Vietnam - South Korea relations in the future.

At the opening ceremony, Joen Jun Hyuk, representing the trainees, expressed his honor to participate in the first cooperation program between GYBM and the Academy of Public Administration and Governance. The trainee representative affirmed that they would make efforts to study, train, actively learn about the language, culture, and business environment in Vietnam, while spreading the GYBM spirit with practical thinking and a global vision. The trainees commit to respecting Vietnamese culture, contributing positively to the Academy community, and contributing to cultivating friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and South Korea.

The 2026 "Global Young Business Managers" Program is held from June 15 to December 23, 2026, at the Academy of Public Administration and Governance. This is an international cooperation activity with practical significance, contributing to enhancing people-to-people exchanges, promoting education and training cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea, and simultaneously nurturing a young workforce with integration capabilities and the ability to work in a global environment.
